Moved Into a New Service Area? How to Introduce Your Trade Business Online

You have decided to take on work in another town. The van can get there, the jobs suit your business and you have space in the diary.

Your website still tells a different story. Every example, testimonial and location reference points to the area you have always covered.

Introducing a new service area starts with making your actual availability clear. It does not require pretending you have worked there for years.

Be specific about the work you will travel for

A new postcode does not automatically mean every service is available there. You might travel further for a full installation than for a small repair.

Explain which jobs you are taking on, the areas you can realistically reach and any booking arrangements customers should know about. Make sure the person answering enquiries gives the same information.

That clarity helps avoid conversations about work you cannot sensibly deliver.

Use evidence you genuinely have

If you have completed a local project and have permission to share it, make it part of your introduction. Explain the scope and show relevant photographs.

If you have not, use comparable work from elsewhere and identify it honestly. A kitchen installation in your established area can still demonstrate your approach. It should not be relabelled as a project in the new town.

Customer comments should also retain their real context.

Give a location page something useful to say

Before adding a new page, ask what information a visitor needs beyond a town name. Consider service availability, practical booking information, relevant project examples and a clear way to enquire.

If all you can do is replace one place name with another, the page is not yet doing much for the reader. You may be better served by improving an existing coverage section first. There is no need to promise rankings or publish a page for every nearby village.

Keep the introduction consistent

Check your contact page, service pages, social profiles and any directory information you maintain. Remove contradictions about coverage or availability.

Then make the next step straightforward: tell customers what information to send when they enquire.

Trade Spotlight can help you present a new service area clearly, using real project evidence and content that fits the work you want to win.
